Elvis Holds Sammy

This week we laugh.

Go ahead.

I sure did.

If you read the post from 2 weeks ago, you've probably guessed that this photo is courtesy of Nancy, who took the ARC of Sammy Keyes and the Showdown in Sin City to all the places mentioned in Sin City.

She couldn't find a Mini-Elvis, like I did during my research trip (and like Sammy does during Showdown), but this guy's maybe even funnier. I wonder how much Nancy tipped him to hold the book. I wonder how much work he gets, there on the Las Vegas Strip, offering to pose with tourists.

Maybe he has a good singing voice.

Maybe that's the motivation.

Still. I wonder if he knows he needs a little help perfecting the whole Elvis thing. I wonder who he is when he's not Elvis. I wonder if he's got a day job.

I really hope he's got a day job.

Anyway, January 8th is right around the corner.

You'll be able to hold Sammy, too.

And find out who her dad is.

Just remember, the year ends in 13.

Can't wait.

Hahahaha!!!! That's a funny picture!! I know I'm so excited for Sammy Keyes and the showdown in sin city!!! But I'm also a little sad, because it's just a little bit closer to the series ending. :(

That picture is great! I love it! I think it is his face that makes it great.

I am so excited for January 8th! I put it one my Christmas list and told my mom that it was the most important thing on there and I didn't care that I would get it until the eight because I really want it. Also on my list is every Sammy Keyes book that I don't have.

Hope you all have a wonderful week!

Oh my gosh! On amazon I like looking at the insides of books for preview of the first chapter or 2, (I DON'T LOOK AT THE REVIEWS) and in the paperback cover of justice jack which I'm pretty sure comes out Dec. 11
there was what I was hoping for in the preview:
Have you read Sammy Keyes and the Showdown in Sin City? Turn the page for a preview!

First two chapters of Sin City!=) Nothing that reveals her dad though, and maybe I'm the last one to find find this but I don't care I read it over twice and now I really can't wait for it to come out to see what happens next! 28 more days until January 8th!

There is an "Elvis" that hangs out at IHop in SLO usually on Wednesdays and Sundays. Jason and I have seen him many times. They even call him Elvis!

He's got a hangdog look to him, alright. Or should I say hound dog? Or bulldog? Pit bull? He's probably sad because Nancy didn't let him read the book!

Bella, I will be trying to forget that you ever posted that. Reading two chapters not knowing when I could read the rest would be torture!

Haha it was torture for me to!=)

I laughed so hard when I saw this! And a mini Elvis? Why no picture? BTW: Any chance we could have a little sneak-peek excerpt before Showdown in Sin City comes out? Pretty please with high tops on top? :D

Norma go amazon and go to the paperback of justice jack and you'll get to read two chapters of sin city. :)

Thanks gabrielle! I found and all but devoured the first two chapters. But there's a problem; now I want MORE!!! Ohhoho, the anguish of waiting until the 6th of January. How will I live without knowing? Hm, maybe Yusa had the right idea in waiting.

Another thing I'm probably late on figuring out, but I'm still pretty young so ya . . .
I'm pretty sure this is right : Elvis Presley was born on January 8 1935!! =) Haha I thought that was really cool cause thats when sin city is out, I could be wrong about his birthday though.=)

OMG,OMG,OMG,OMG,OMG,OMG!!!!! I can't wait till the book comes out! Where did you find a mini Elvis!?!?!?! That is so cool :D Hope the weeks go by fast, I REALLY want to know who Sammy Keyes's dad is. I wonder if she already knows him, that would be so cool yet freaky at the same time. CANNOT WAIT, I am being tortured by suspense.

Yusa said...

Bella: yeah you're right he was! That's so cool! Maybe they did that on purpose.... Ahhh i have to wait through winter break with all this suspense.... kill me now.

If anyone's looking for a book to read while they're waiting, I just read "When You Reach Me" by Rebecca Stead (the 2010 Newberry Medal winner) and I highly recommend it. Warning: it's the kind of book you don't want to start when you need to be doing something else shortly. It's mildly sci-fi (I'm not a big sci-fi fan myself, but I still liked it), but sort of a mystery, too.

Unknown said...

Ok, if it's a mystery I'm definetly reading it, sometimes I'll even go to the adult section to look for a mystery,
thank you!=)

Oh ive read that book! Its really good.

The main library has a suggestion box and forms for recommending titles (they say not to use them for new titles because they want to wait for the reviews, but there already are reviews for SDiSC...). Hopefully the words "Edgar," "Schneider," and "major mysteries in Sammy's own life" will convince them to order it ASAP.

I might have too much to read over Christmas now. I went to the library today and checked out a few books (and a few audiobooks for the drive I'll no longer be making alone, so who knows when I'll listen to them now), and I've got more on the way from other branches. And I came home to find a Christmas present on my stoop: Divergent and its sequel. I guess it's better to have too many books than too few.
